DiskCrypt M100 is a USB 3.0 encryption hard disk enclosure for 2.5” SATA hard drives. It provides access control via two-factor authentication using a smart card and data-at-rest security via hardware-based full disk encryption.

It is very simple and straightforward. After installing the 2.5” SATA hard drives into DiskCrypt M100, connect the unit to your computer via the USB cable provided. Insert your smart card and enter PIN. You may access your data just like any other normal USB enclosures. No software installation is required at all.

Yes, you can still access the data from the hard drive so long the existing smart card is present. If DiskCrypt M100 is malfunction, remove the hard drive and install in a replacement unit. As the encryption keys are stored inside the smart card, you have to use the existing smart card and *re-initialize with the replacement unit with the existing PIN. You may continue to access your data with the replacement unit as per normal.

Yes, DiskCrypt M100 employs Full Disk Encryption (FDE). Every single byte and sector of your hard drive is encrypted.

DiskCrypt M100 offers AES (acronym of Advanced Encryption Standard) encryption scheme with a key-strength of 256 bits.

The PINs are smart card specific. Although the smart cards come with the same default factory PIN, you can *change to 2 different PINs.

Yes, the PIN can be easily changed during the time of *authentication without any data loss. Please note that PINs are smart card specific. By changing the PIN with one smart card does NOT automatically change the PIN of another.

The smart cards contain the encryption key of the installed SSD. The key is protected by your PIN. Hence, your drive is secure so long your PIN is not compromised. If you lose your 1st card, please continue to use the 2nd card to access your drive. You may wish to purchase additional cards, and/or our DiskCrypt Key Management System to duplicate cards.

Due to security implementations, it is not possible to duplicate another smart card if both smart cards are lost. Hence, it is advisable to purchase additional cards and/or our DiskCrypt Key Management System to duplicate cards if you lose one of the smart cards.

The data in the hard drive are encrypted. Without the authenticated smart card and PIN, one is unable to decrypt the data.

Due to security implementations, it is not possible to access the data in the SSD without the authenticated smart card and PIN. Hence, we encourage customers to keep one smart card with default factory PIN in a secured location as backup.

You will be allowed 8 attempts before the smart card is locked out. Please ensure that you have the correct PIN to the smart card.
